Tonight is, sadly, the end of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. For the free portion, Top of the Park, in addition to local favorites Madcat and Kane and George Bedard and the Kingpins, there will be a sing along screening of The Sound of Music. In honor of the last night of the festival, I give you this clip from Belgium:
This was apparently prepared during a whopping two rehearsals, and the passersby were totally unprepared for 200 dancers to show up in the middle of their daily commute.

that is an amazing video. came across one recently where a flash mob of 50 or so did the "hammer dance" in the middle of a store. If this was used to get attention for the sing along, brilliant marketing. sure it got the press. the looks on some of the peoples faces is priceless.
A friend sent me that right after C's run in the HS production of SoM. Sing-along SoM! That's genius.
I love Sound of Music. This video is so much fun!!
Brian, I'll have to go looking for that one, as well.
Luisa - that is so cool! I'd forgotten he'd been in SoM. The sing along SoM thing started in London, apparently, and was popular there in the way that dressing for Rocky Horror Picture Show was here.
I agree, Widney Woman!
How great! I used to commute into that Station every day-- too bad I never got to stumble across something fun like that!!!
thanks for sharing!
Great!
Have a wonderful week and cheers,
Rosa
Betsy - when were you living there? I can't keep up with you!
Rosa - it looked like great fun.
I've seen this a dozen times now... and the best part? How everyone is smiling and laughing and generally happy during and after. Bet not one person had a bad day that day!
I agree, Marianne - it was certainly a joy-bringer.
the clip was a commercial for a reality show in which they were looking for the leadsinger for the musical "sound of music" in Antwerp.
cool huh!
Goofball, yes, I heard about that, but I still think it was amazing - commercial or not! They're now showing the British version of that show on BBC America. Have they shown it in Belgium?
the reality show is over in the mean time...I didn't watch it but "Maria" has been found :).
Ben - I did. That was extraordinary.
Goofball - ah... well, it was still a wonderful video!
